Your Voice, Pelvic Floor and your Womb: A Love Story

Your voice, your womb and pelvic floor are connected in the most beautiful of ways.

Your voice, with its sultry vibrations and seductive tones, is intimately connected to your emotional and spiritual selves.

Your womb, with her creative powers and primal energy, is the ultimate source of feminine strength.

The pelvic floor is the space holder for your sexual life force.

Before we explain the connection, let’s dive deeper in the essence and functions of these three different part of your beautiful body.

Why your pelvic health matters

The pelvic floor is a complex network of muscles, ligaments, and nerves that spans the area between the pubic bone and the tailbone. It plays a critical role in supporting the pelvic organs, including the bladder, uterus, and rectum. It also plays a crucial role in your pleasure!

The health of the pelvic floor is essential. When your pelvic floor is weak, you may experience a range of issues, including urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, and less pleasurable sexual sensations. This also applies if your pelvic floor muscles are too tight. You may experience bowel problems, sexual pain or problems with your blater. You want to experience strong and healthy pelvic muscles, for better times in the bedroom and better overall physical health.

On a spiritual level the pelvic floor is connected to your first chakra. Your root. Your steadiness and sense of safety. This first chakra is connected to the element earth and your sexual life force (or Kundalini, if you want to get fancy).

Your womb is your second brain

Research is also on board that your womb is not just a physical organ that bleeds and makes babies. It’s also your center of consciousness and creativity. In fact, the womb has been referred to as the "second brain" of the body, due to its complex connections to the nervous system, endocrine system, and other parts of the body. It’s in deep commute with your emotional states, creativity, and intuition. It’s also a place where a lot of our ancestral and sexual trauma is stored.

The mirror of your soul

Your voice is produced by the vibration of the vocal cords, which are located in the larynx. It’s not just a tool for communication, but also a window into your innermost being. It reveals your emotions, your desires, your fears, and your deepest truths. Your voice carries the essence of who you are and what you stand for. It is a powerful tool for self-expression and creativity. It’s also a powerful tool for self-discovery and healing. In many ways, your voice is a reflection of your soul and your ability to connect with others.

The link between your voice, your pelvic muscles and your womb.

We have to go back to the beginning. You growing in your mothers womb. Both your pelvic floor and your voice were formed from the same group of cells. These cells are called the pharyngeal arches, and give rise to a variety of structures in the body, including the muscles of your jaw, throat, and pelvic floor.

The pelvic floor and the voice therefore share similarities in terms of their muscle structure and function.
Both the pelvic floor and the voice rely on a complex interplay of muscles, ligaments, and nerves to function properly. And both can be affected by tension, stress, and too much or too little muscle engagement.

The pelvic floor and the voice are also in direct communication via the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is a large nerve that runs from the brainstem through the chest and abdomen, and it plays a critical role in regulating the nervous system, which controls breathing, heart rate, and digestion.

Because of this connection, tension in the pelvic floor muscles can lead to tension in the muscles of the throat and larynx, which can affect the quality and tone of your voice and your singing.

Studies have shown that the voice can have a profound impact on your physical and emotional health. Singing has been found to increase levels of oxytocin, a hormone associated with bonding and relaxation. It has also been found to reduce levels of cortisol, a stress hormone.

Another connection between these three parts of the body is their shared role in emotional and spiritual well-being. When the pelvic floor, womb, and voice are in harmony, women can experience a greater sense of inner peace, joy, and creativity. Conversely, when one of these parts of the body is not functioning properly, it can lead to emotional and physical imbalance.

There is also evidence that emotional trauma can impact the pelvic floor, the womb, and the voice. Studies have found that women who have experienced trauma are more likely to experience pelvic floor dysfunction, menstrual irregularities, and vocal problems.

So, what is the relationship between the pelvic floor, the womb, and the voice? One of the most significant connections between these three parts of the body is their shared role in how liberated our sexual life force is, our sexuality and our pleasure. When the pelvic floor, womb, and voice are healthy and functioning properly, women can experience greater sexual pleasure and a deeper connection to their bodies and spiritual selve.

All three of these bodily areas are intimately tied to our emotional and mental states, responding to stress, anxiety, and trauma. Emotional blockages can cause tension and hinder the proper functioning of both the voice and reproductive system.
